TextHelp Competition Winner

Please Note: This competition has now finished.

'For your chance to win a copy of Read&Write TextHelp, all you need to do is tell us if you're using a Mac or PC and What assistive technology means to you...'

Our winner, Stephania (pictured below), explained to us that Assistive Technology to her was not just about disability but about communication.  She stressed the importance of applications like TextHelp for those who English is a second language.

Jonathan Walker from TextHelp came along to present Stephania with her prize and I'm sure we will work with Jonathan and the rest of the TextHelp team more in the future.

Congratulations to Stephania and a huge thank you to TextHelp.

Assistant App

Assistant App is a great new app powered by the Nuance voice technology used for Dragon and other applications.   It allows you to organise your time by way of a calendar with all dates and events now added by voice recording. As a dyslexic it allows me to take ownership in planning my time but also means that others can set me reminders.  Hearing a voice relay the information to me is a great help. Assistant App

ECS Accessibility

From my point of view more businesses and web developers need to consider the needs of a wider audience, making websites more accessible. A group that are doing great work in this area are ECS. Here's what they have to say.. 'We specialise in accessible solutions to meet the needs of your business. Our previous work has included accessible web applications and sites, and accessible software.' Take a look at their website and spread the word to any businesses who are thinking of going online. http://access.ecs.soton.ac.uk/#
