Swivl

Recently I have been testing out Swivl, a new assistive tool that turns your phone or camera into a self-tracking camera.

''
The Swivl tracks movement via a sensor while your iPhone shoots smooth panning video. It tilts up and down and rotates a whole 360 degrees.

The Swivl knows who or what you want to film by tracking an easy-to-wear and super compact 3-in-1 sensor. The sensor acts as a sensor for movement, a microphone for crystal clear audio and a remote for fine-tuned Swivl control.''

This video shows just a couple of the features of the Swivl.  I think it's a great tool for students and teachers alike, it can be used to record lectures for distance learning with no fuss. You can move around as you wish and the Swivl will follow.

More on the Swivl soon!

Swivi you can go from the iPhone 3 to a iPhone 5 and now with iPad 3 and lot more

Assistant App

Assistant App is a great new app powered by the Nuance voice technology used for Dragon and other applications.   It allows you to organise your time by way of a calendar with all dates and events now added by voice recording. As a dyslexic it allows me to take ownership in planning my time but also means that others can set me reminders.  Hearing a voice relay the information to me is a great help. Assistant App

Visual Stress

For many year's I thought that my reading ability, concentration and memory all related to my dyslexia.  Many years later I discovered that visual stress caused by Irlen syndrome was creating many additional issues, I began using tinted glasses and overlays and found that much of my visual stress was relieved.  Here are a few tips on relieving visual stress.   David Hillel Burns has been a practising optometrist in North London for nearly three decades, working in his own practice in Tottenham, in North Middlesex and Whittington Hospitals, and as of 2011, he is now based in East Finchley, with a new practice featuring state-of-the-art equipment - which means that he can offer you a far better and more accurate diagnosis than many of the leading optician chains! David provides advanced services, including Irlen syndrome tests.   http://www.davidhillel.co.uk/     Cerium Visual Technologies   Beneficial reports...

Cloud storage: Dropbox & SkyDrive

Take a look at this introduction to Dropbox.  We thought we should share this again as we begin the second semester of the academic year, it is more important than ever to keep our files organised and in one place.    Using Dropbox and handy applications like DropVox that go hand-in-hand will help you to keep on top of everything during the next few months. What Is Dropbox? from Sandra Fox on Vimeo . If you're looking for an alternative to DropBox, you may be interested in SkyDrive, take a look at the video below for more info on the SkyDrive features...
